VERLUST

VERLUST - Loss - is a series of paintings from 2023. The paintings are unambiguously non-representational.

"The "loss" is not made visible as subject matter in any obvious way within the series, but it is carried in the background by the personal mark left by the loss of my dearly loved brother. The series is again concerned with rhythms, but above all with the arrangement and distributed construction of counterweights and optical chains, of disruptions and breaks within a harmonious order. At first glance the paintings look very much alike; they work on the same graphic theme, but each time a little differently. Either the handling of the brush varies, or the weighting, position and sequence of the colours is redistributed." Tobias Post
