Schwerelos
Crystals without a ground, slowly tumbling

There is no surface on which anything stands. Each crystal hangs at its own height, the nearer ones large, the more distant ones small and blurring into haze – and from this the space arises.
A very slow vortex keeps the swarm in motion, wide rings breathe through it. Touching an object opens a vortex that clears the crystals around it away and carries them upwards.
Without a ground, all that remains of the crystal is what defines it: edge, face, axis — the same order that salt has too. The museum itself is about exactly that: the permanent exhibition “Das weiße Wunder” at the Westfälische Salzwelten leads into underground vaults full of crystals that formed more than 250 million years ago, shows their lattice structure under salt microscopes and tells how brine becomes salt on the Hellweg — Bad Sassendorf is an old salters' town.
“Schwerelos” can be experienced at the Ferromone family festival “Farbexplosion” at the Westfälische Salzwelten, Bad Sassendorf – on Saturday, 17 October 2026, 6 to 10 pm.
Placement in the post-digital model of positing
Without a ground the first positing is missing, the one on which everything otherwise stands. The space then arises from size and haze alone — depth here is a positing of the gaze, not of the ground.
