Editions & Acquisition
Digital real-time works by Tobias Post
A digital real-time work
A digital real-time work is generated continuously by software while it is being shown, according to the rules the work sets out. What you see comes into being at the moment of execution. The films on this website document the work; the work itself is its execution.
Edition of 3 + 1 artist's proof
Each work is issued in an edition of three numbered copies (1/3, 2/3, 3/3), plus one artist's proof (AP 1/1).
The artist's proof remains with the artist. It is available for the artist's own exhibitions and for temporary presentations by third parties. Acquiring a copy does not include sole exhibition exclusivity.
What an acquisition includes
- the authorised execution of the work
- the software and work data required for it
- a certificate
- basic installation documentation
Acquiring a copy entitles you to show the work at one location at a time. The location may change; it may not be shown at two locations simultaneously.
The general development platform with which the works are created is not sold.
Hardware, transport, installation, mapping, calibration, travel and additional support are offered separately, by arrangement.
Identifier and certificate
Each copy sold receives its own identifier and a certificate; together they identify the authorised copy. Work, edition number, authorisation and software version are recorded separately: a software update does not change the edition number.
Presentation for a limited period
A work can be shown for an event or for a limited period. Such a presentation is authorised separately; it is not an additional copy of the edition. The presentation fee covers one work, at one location, in an agreed configuration.
Contract
Presentation, resale, loans and conservation of the work are governed by the individual purchase contract.
Enquiry
An enquiry via “My selection” is non-binding and does not reserve a copy. A concrete offer follows your enquiry. Starting prices are shown with the individual works.
