UHRWERK
UHRWERK (Clockwork) is an immersive work. It is shown in the anniversary exhibition “Zeit fließt – Was war? Was bleibt? Was kommt?” marking 70 years of the Werkkreis Bildender Künstler (WBK) at the Forum Kunst & Architektur in Essen, from 6 to 27 September 2026.
The work borrows from BRUTAL VERDREHT, the works for Giganten & Kunst in the compressor hall of the Hansa coking plant. There they took up the rotation, compression and flow of the historic compressor. UHRWERK carries the rotation into a new context: rotating elements move in the background and together form the clockwork.
The theme remains related, but in content UHRWERK is a work of its own. In the context of the exhibition the rotating movement becomes an image of time: the clockwork makes visible how time passes as continuous movement – and so poses the exhibition’s questions of what was, what remains and what comes.
